MATTHEW | PARABLE OF THE FOOLISH, AND WISE BUILDER

MATTHEW | PARABLE OF THE FOOLISH, AND WISE BUILDER

matthew of galilee is remembered for his narrative of the life of christ. a disciple, not one who claims authority, he tells the story of the foolish, and wise builder.

a private client of pearson planning, chartered surveyors came across another matthew. matthew of jedburgh, trying to stamp his authority across glasgow. this is how the events occurred.

the client was constructing a bespoke dwellinghouse, converting a small listed building in a conservation area. a few mature trees were now compromising the rebuild. Pearson planning, chartered surveyors advised the client and gave statutory notice to the city council, of the intention to remove the trees (trees in conservation areas are protected). the city council’s landscape pharisee (matthew of jedburgh), ignored the notice and failed to respond within the 28 day period. the trees were removed.

matthew of jedburgh, eventually communicated to pearson planning, chartered surveyors that the notice was invalid and the matter would be reported for enforcement. indeed, the following year (!!!) the city council served a tree enforcement notice, requiring planting of replacement olive trees. Pearson Planning, chartered surveyors was instructed to appeal the T.E.N.

to the client’s delight (allelujah!) scottish ministers allowed the appeal, and quashed the T.e.N

if you are a wise builder, and you encounter the foolish, then why not speak to pearson planning, chartered surveyors for advice.
