New Town Business Park Approved
Plans to build a high spec office development in Central Scotland were put on hold following the Great Recession. No pre-lets were in place, and planning permission was about to expire, without works having commenced in time. The original proposal involved the developer paying £60,000 towards junction improvements along the A71, through a legal agreement. Rather than see the permission lapse, Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors made a Section42 application, asking the Council to delete a condition, and grant a new planning permission. The Council refused to do so. However, on appeal, the Scottish Ministers agreed that the condition was unnecessary and granted a new planning permission. Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors was also able to save the client the £60,000, as the new permission was not subject to a planning obligation agreement. The developer now has until 2017 to find occupiers and commence building the 9 office blocks.
