Not Seeing the Bigger Picture
Consent has been obtained by Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors for two Digital Advertisement Screens on a railway embankment in Edinburgh. Consent was issued following a succesful appeal against the decision of Labour & SNP Councillors in the City.
The Council initially refused consent on the basis that a few houses would overlook the Screens (i.e. amenity). Pearson Planning demonstrated to the Appointed Person that there would be no impact on amenity as existing properties sat between two railway bridges, on the busy A70 Primary Route, next to a shopping parade and Hindu Temple.
Allowing the Appeal, the Appointed Person noted that the area was busy & well lit in the evenings. He agreed with Pearson Planning that a condition limiting the level of night time illumination to 75 cd/m2 resolved any amenity issue.
