Nothing Will Turn a Man’s Home into a Castle More Quickly & Effectively Than a Dachshund

A Client of Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors made internal improvements to a distressed looking flat they bought.  Pretty regular occurrence in Glasgow, one might think,  provided the necessary building approval is obtained.  No not always, it would seem.

The flat is part of a Category B listed building group, a project of HD Barclay from the Victorian period.  Glasgow City Council, without its Officers having visited or inspected the property, refused listed building consent.   Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors appealed on behalf of the private client.

Scottish Ministers allowed the appeal.  The Reporter stated that the exterior of the Building was of special interest and agreed, with Pearson, that the internal alterations did not impact on the listed building.  The Reporter, from Dublin, stated that the works actually enhanced the Building.

A claim for expenses against Glasgow City Council was, however, not awarded.
