End to Braying in the Braes

Planning permission has been granted to operate a waste recyling facility, following an appeal by Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors. Despite being located within the countryside, residents of nearby villages objected to the local planning authority.

The original application was made in April 2019 and Councillors had not taken a decision by November, so an appeal was submitted. Nationalist Cllr Gordon Hughes told the local newspaper that He was “firmly opposed” to recycling on site: in direct contravention of the stated policy in the Party’s General Election manifesto.

The appeal process was not without delays either. The person appointed to take the decision allowed third parties to keep on submitting untimeous representations and made various subsequent requests for further information. Eventually after 10 months, She issued Her decision.
