Shotts Fired, New Cummins and Goings

The Cummins Engine Co. manufactory in Lanarkshire closed in 1998 with a massive loss of jobs, devastating the town of Shotts. The building complex lay empty/underutilised for two decades. Its latest owner has done much to revive its fortunes and keep the Category A listed building in good condition. The Owner recognised changes in demand in the logistics & distribution sector, and is marketing space. In order to facilitate new tenants Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors was instructed to obtain: planning permission for a partial change of use to Class 6; and listed building consent for physical alterations to the building & its curtilage. After three months of negotiatons, and resolving issues such as traffic, noise, air quality etc, approvals were issued by the local planning authority. If you have a listed building that could be put to better use, why not contact Pearson Planning, Chartered Surveyors for initial advice?
